Studio Exploration/ Presentation

Baldgorilla is a very talented Design firm located in Montréal (Québec), Canada.  They have an amazing website done completely in Flash.   From the moment you enter the “jungle” aka the homepage you as the user get to interact with the website in many ways that are not in the typical website. 

For Example:
-    Choice of language might not seem like a big deal to most people but if you want to explain you might want to think about having your website in different languages.
-    Music and sound effects to make the surfing experience more interesting.  If you get tired of all the “monkeying around” noises you can mute them.
-    While it is a professional business they know how to have fun and show that through their website.
-    Among other things…

The theme of the website is hysterical.  It takes place in the jungle and the workers are monkeys.  They are “monkeying around” throughout the different pages.  Almost each individual page has a different monkey that explains to the viewer about their company and the page you are on. 
Their clients range from mom and pop websites to big eCommerce websites.  Some of their more impressive works are: MEGA Brands, Fersten, Oberson and much more.  One of my favorite projects that they have done is all the in depth work they put into the MEGA Brands website.  There are several individual websites within the main page.  The individual project webpages could stand alone with all the depth and interactivity that was put into them.  ( I will admit that I checked most of them out and realized that it was a few hours later because I was having fun with the MEGA Blocks page.  While its loading you have two mega block knights dueling and you control the white knight “of coarse!”
 

Their portfolio is very fun and interactive.   After clicking the portfolio link you are taken to a computer  with the “banana brand” not apple.  It’s pretty funny.  While moving your mouse across the page a hairy monkey hand controls the mouse for you and helps you select.  On the computer screen are different screen-shots of the different project that they have done.  It is very easy to use with the scrolling options to view the different examples.  Most of their examples have links to their main sites to explore them more.

I love how this company is making showing they can be very professional and good at what they do while having fun.  I see way to many websites that want to “professional” looking.  Yes that isnice but it is so BORING and a lot of them look alike.  This is so different and refreshing.  It is very intimidating as well sense this is the field that I wish to enter so I will have to study them and get some ideas ;)
